American doubles champion Max Purcell, who was found by investigators on his phone, discussing ways he could support receiving intravenous injections, has received an 18-month suspension for breaking the anti-doping rules of tennis.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency discovered the two-time great smash doubles champion after receiving more than 500 milliliters of fluid injections in December 2023.

These messages indicate that: ( i ) the Player requested that the Clinic staff not keep receipts for his infusion, ( ii ) the Player discussed ways in which he could justify receiving infusions, including feigning illness, and ( iii ) the Player subsequently looked into whether or not the infusion was against the WADA Code ( particularly, whether it was the ingredient itself or the water that was relevant to the 100 mL within 12 hours );
Moorhouse claimed that the ITIA’s knowledge of Purcell was the result of their comments into a different situation.
She said,” That messaging (text messages ) was really important to the start of this investigation.
” That was the information we discovered as part of a different research,” which led us to investigate the circumstances surrounding Max Purcell’s death.
” Getting that kind of information is really important to us. We are all aware of the limitations that tests has on what we can test for. And as a result, we encourage someone to contact us with any information or issues they may have regarding anti-doping.
According to the ITIA’s studies, Purcell may have faced a maximum penalty of two years in prison.
Purcell’s temporary expulsion was made people in December. Four months ago, Purcell asserted that he “had done anything to make sure I had adhered to the WADA rules and procedures.”
