Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced compensation of Rs 50 lakh and a government job to the family of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was among the 26 tourists killed in Jammu-Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22 in the deadly terrorist attack.
According to an official statement, the job will be given to any of the family members as per the wish of Narwal’s parents.

The last rites of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was a resident of Haryana’s Karnal, were performed on April 23. Haryana CM Nayab Saini also attended his last rites.
Speaking to the media, CM Saini said, “I came here to pay tribute to Vinay Narwal and meet his family. Those who have carried out the cowardly attack will not be spared… strict action will be taken against them. Vinay Narwal is a brave soldier…The Haryana government stands with Vinay Narwal’s family.”
Several people arrived at the residence of the officer to pay tribute and take a final glimpse of the officer.
Lieutenant Vinay Narwal was killed less than 10 days after he got married.
His widow bid an emotional goodbye to her husband as she stood with tears in her eyes at the funeral ceremony.
“I hope his soul rests in peace. He lived a good life. He made us really proud, and we should keep this pride in every way,” she said, with a trembling voice.
On Friday, CM Saini also called a high-level meeting after discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
