Jose Maria Olazabal will serve as Luke Donald’s second vice-captain for this year’s Ryder Cup.

The 59-year-old Spaniard led the Europeans to their infamous “miracle of Medinah” win at the 2012 Ryder Cup in the US.

That marked the final moment Europe had won the annual contest on American land.

The 26-28-Sep. 26-28 event will take place at Bethpage Black in New York.

” It’s truly difficult to win in the United States away from home.” We are aware that the crowds in New York will be very quiet and that the US team may have a program set up there,” Olazabal said.

There is no greater concern for a golfer than competing in a Ryder Cup away from home, and we need to get emotionally prepared.

Olazabal will take over as vice-captain for the second time, having previously won in Italy with Team Europe two years ago. He even held that position in 2008, 2010 and 2014.

Thomas Bjorn and Edoardo Molinari from Denmark were originally named by Donald as vice-captains.

Olazabal, a two-time Masters hero, won seven Ryder Cup matches between 1987 and 2006.

He is” symbolized with Western sport and the Ryder Cup,” Donald said. He “bleeds blue and gold like no other person.” His devotion to the Ryder Cup is unmatched.
