Bhumi Pednekar’s Ivory Glam at The Royals Launch Is Straight Out of a 2000s Pageant Playbook
Bhumi Pednekar turned heads at the trailer launch of her upcoming Netflix special, The Royals, stepping out in a striking all-white ensemble that instantly evoked nostalgia for the glamour of 90s and early 2000s beauty pageants. Her look drew comparisons to the iconic styles sported by Indian beauty queens like Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta during their Miss World and Miss Universe wins.
Bhumi revived the classic gown-and-dupatta combination, a signature of Indian pageantry royalty. She wore a stunning ivory silk gown that featured a daring plunging neckline, a strapless, corseted bodice, a curve-accentuating silhouette, a strategic back slit for ease of movement, and a sweeping floor-length hemline. Adding a traditional yet contemporary twist, Bhumi draped a matching floor-length silk dupatta elegantly over her arms, seamlessly blending old-school charm with modern sophistication.

To accessorize, Bhumi opted for pointed ivory silk pumps and dazzling diamond jewelry, including a choker necklace adorned with delicate bird motifs, sparkling rings, and classic diamond earrings. Her beauty look was equally flawless — she left her hair loose in a center part, styled into soft, voluminous waves. For makeup, she embraced a radiant glow with feathered brows, flushed cheeks, mauve-pink lips, pink-toned eyeshadow, a flick of winged eyeliner, luscious mascara-coated lashes, and a generous touch of highlighter to complete the ethereal vibe.
The Royals, which also stars Ishaan Khatter, Zeenat Aman, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, and Sakshi Tanwar, is directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, and will premiere on Netflix on May 9.
Bhumi’s show-stopping appearance proved once again why she remains a major fashion force, effortlessly blending vintage inspiration with contemporary appeal.
