R& A assess feasibility of Trump’ s Turnberry as Open page

The R& A would like to see US President Donald Trump’s Turnberry lessons in Scotland returning as number of the British Open but will first need to determine the viability of the place, the governing heart’s chief executive Mark Darbon has said.

Turnberry, a harbour training in South Ayrshire, Scotland, has staged The Open four periods- most just in 2009 when American Stewart Cink won. Trump bought the house in 2014.

In 2021, after the January 6 attack on the US Capitol by Trump followers, the R& A said it would certainly step championships at Turnberry, but with Trump re-elected Darbon said on Tuesday the body’s primary concerns over returning to the place were operational.

” At Turnberry, there are certainly some administrative and business issues that we face around the road, rail and hospitality equipment,” Darbon told British press.

” We’re doing some viability job around what it would appear like to return to that place and the expense that it would need. “

The 153rd version of The Open, one of golf’s major tournaments, will take place from July 13-20 at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, with the R& A announcing a document presence of 278,000 followers is expected at the event.

” The last time we were there ( Turnberry ), I think we had just over 120,000 people,” Darbon said.

” This summer we’re going to welcome nearly 280,000 people here ( Royal Portrush ). A current Open Championship is a large-scale function.

” What we know for sure is the golf course is excellent, so at some stage we’d like to get up there. “
