Delhi traffic advisory issued for JD Vance’s visit today, check routes to avoid

United States Vice President JD Vance commenced his official visit to India after concluding his tour. His four-day visit is scheduled from April 21 to April 24. According to the White House Press Pool, he is expected to arrive in Delhi at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. During his trip, a formal meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also set for tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the PM’s residence.

The agenda for Vance during the trip extends beyond the capital. He will visit Jaipur on Tuesday and next Wednesday (April 23), he will head to Agra. His scheduled departure from India is in the morning on Thursday. In light of the VIP visit, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles in the city. The advisory outlines certain periods on Monday as part of the arrangements for the “special event,” requesting commuters to stay informed and plan ahead.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS AND SUGGESTED ROUTES

To accommodate the Vice President’s itinerary, traffic restrictions will be in place during the following time slots:

9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

RESTRICTED ROADS:

• Gurugram Road
• Parade Road
• Thimmaiya Marg
• Air Force Road

Note: Parking is prohibited on these roads. Improperly parked vehicles will be towed to Kalibari Mandir Marg, near Bhairon Temple.

SUGGESTED ALTERNATIVE ROUTES:

• For travel from 11 Murti to RML Hospital: Use Vande Mataram Marg via Dhaula Kuan Flyover, then proceed through Shankar Road and Sheikh Mujib-Ur-Rehman Marg.
• For travel between IGI Airport and Dhaula Kuan Flyover: Use Rao Tula Ram Marg.

• From Connaught Place Outer Circle to Janpath: Use Ashoka Road C-Hexagon.
• From Zakir Hussain Marg to C-Hexagon: Use Mathura Road T-Point.

Note: These restrictions coincide with Vice President Vance’s scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 6:30 PM.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• The Vice President, accompanied by his wife Usha and their three children, arrived in Delhi at approximately 9:30 AM.
• Their itinerary includes a visit to Akshardham Temple and a meeting with Prime Minister Modi.
• Following their Delhi engagements, the family will travel to Jaipur on Tuesday and Agra on Wednesday before departing India on Thursday morning.

During the day, the Delhi Traffic Police have appealed to individuals to travel via public transport so that roads can ease up. Passengers going to ISBTS, railway stations, or airports are also requested to be cautious while planning their trips so that they do not face any delays, the advisory further stated.
