A massive traffic jam brought National Highway 24 in Noida to a grinding halt on Monday morning, with vehicles lined up bumper-to-bumper for several kilometres. Commuters faced significant delays during peak hours as visuals from the scene showed long queues of stuck traffic.

The gridlock comes amid heightened security arrangements in Delhi-NCR as US Vice President JD Vance landed in India for his first official visit.

According to officials, Vance is scheduled to visit the Akshardham Temple in Delhi this evening before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In anticipation of his movement, a traffic advisory was issued, and security has been intensified across sensitive areas in the capital.

Gautam Budh Nagar Traffic Police informed commuters that traffic diversions may be enforced if required, especially near Akshardham. “Traffic going towards Akshardham from Noida-Greater Noida Expressway via Chilla Border will be able to reach their destination via Dalit Prerna Sthal and the DND flyway,” the traffic directorate stated. Emergency vehicles will continue to be allowed through.

Meanwhile, in Delhi, the Traffic Police issued another advisory for commuters to avoid roads around IP Marg, ITO Crossing, Vikas Marg, MGM IP Flyover, and BSZ Marg from W-Point to A-Point between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm due to the movement of VIP convoys. Parking in these areas was restricted, and violators faced towing and prosecution.
