Leading IT services provider Wipro reported a decline in its workforce by 1,157 employees during the third quarter, marking a shift after two consecutive quarters of workforce expansion.
The development comes at a time when the Bengaluru-based company is reassessing its lateral and campus hiring models to focus on improving utilisation rate of employees amid lowering attrition, to grow margins.

At the end of Q3, Wipro’s total employee strength stood at 232,732, a decrease of 6,923 employees compared to the same period last year.

Earlier in the year, Wipro onboarded between 2,500 and 3,000 freshers during the second quarter and an additional 3,000 freshers in the first quarter ending June.

Wipro Ltd on Friday reported a rise of 4.5 per cent quarter-on-quarter in its net profit to Rs 3,354 crore. It is better than market estimates. The company’s revenue during October-December 2024 was flat at Rs 22,319 crore.
Wipro has also announced an interim dividend of Rs 6 per share, according to a regulatory filing on Friday.
