Paul further alleged that the police not only resorted to lathi-charges and stone-pelting against unarmed demonstrators but also deployed water cannons containing harmful chemicals to disperse the crowds. She shared photographs purportedly showing the effects of the chemical-laced water on protestors, adding that the police’s actions highlight their inability to protect the women of the state and their willingness to use extreme measures against those who dare to protest. These allegations have sparked outrage and calls for an independent investigation into the police’s conduct during the protests. The BJP has demanded accountability from the state government, with Paul urging the Supreme Court to take swift action against those responsible for these alleged human rights violations.
