Two familiar faces from 7NEWS Perth’s evening news bulletin will be swapping their TV studio for a radio booth one day a week.
Mix 94.5 has announced 7NEWS anchors Tim McMillan and Angela Tsun will be launching a new Wednesday morning segment on the popular breakfast program Pete & Kymba Show.
The feature, which makes its debut on Wednesday, will offer a “fresh and entertaining” take on Perth and WA news stories that have dominated headlines through the week.
While little else is known about the news segment at this time, staff from the breakfast program have teased that it will add “plenty of laughs” to the mornings for listeners.
Tsun said she was excited for the opportunity as the spot would allow her to connect with WA in a new way.
“Radio is such a personal way to start the day, and Pete and Kymba have built an incredible connection with their audience,” she said.
“I’m excited to join them each week to share the stories shaping Perth and Western Australia.”
Co-anchor McMillian echoed his colleague’s elation over the radio gig — sharing that he’s looking forward to keeping Sandgropers informed in a more lighthearted way.
“We spend so much time covering the big stories, so it’s nice to mix things up and have a laugh while still talking about what’s happening around Perth,” he said.
The announcement adds to an already exciting 2026 for the news duo.
Tsun and McMillian stepped further into the spotlight at 7NEWS Perth in January, taking the reins from on-air legends Rick and Sue as co-anchors for the 6pm news bulletin four nights a week.
The newsreaders are now the face of Perth’s evening news on the channel from Sunday to Wednesday — an honour they said in January they were “thrilled’ to take on.
The co-anchors’ work on the nightly bulletins has certainly played a role in securing them the breakfast show gig, with the radio network’s content director James Speed having praised the 7NEWS Perth team for their previous news reporting.
Mr Speed also said he was “really excited” to welcome Tsun and McMillian to the breakfast show.
“No one knows news like the Channel 7 team and (Mix 94.5) have come up with a fun, fresh take on it that will have listeners laughing along every Wednesday morning,” Mr Speed said.
“I don’t want to give too much away — we’d rather people discover the fun when they tune into Mix 94.5
“So make sure you’re listening!”
The first segment will air on Wednesday during the Pete & Kymba Show.
