The opportunity for another get on their home waters gives the Brits more determination because Tom Slingsby has declared Great Britain the standard at the Sydney SailGP.
Great Britain has won the SailGP’s final two races on American soil under the watchful eye of Olympic story Sir Ben Ainslie, most recently the annual Perth regatta that kicked off the new season previous month.
After winning the Sydney SailGP in 2025, Great Britain defeated the second-placed American ship in the last of that competition on Fremantle Harbour.
The British boat won the last season’s grand final in Abu Dhabi, where Slingsby’s boat placed second, and also denied Australia a grand jackpot of$ US2 million ($ A2.8 million ).
The Aussies then view Great Britain as the sailboat to hit after winning the high-speed cruising league’s first three seasons.
There is no denying that they are currently the best staff, according to pilot Slingsby.
” The way they finished last season was truly remarkable. No one could prevent them, so they went on a move.
After the Aussies won a stormy and tortuous Auckland SailGP earlier this month, Australia and Great Britain are on similar items in the ranking this year.
When the next event of the season starts on Sydney Harbour this hour, the Brits can begin making plans to overwhelm them.
It doesn’t matter what activity is, according to four-time Olympic gold medalist Ainslie, “because Aussie-Brit conflict is always present in sport.”
They “really feel quite punchy about sailing on their own waters,” the question remains. It was done last month.
” It’d remain entertaining. It’s a boost to desire.
Australia’s first victory in a SailGP race since winning the same Auckland occasion in January of last year was a result of this season’s win in awe of the harsh Kiwi conditions.
Although the win has encouraged the hosts, it is not likely that the weather will be as blustery in Sydney, where a moderate eastward is predicted.
Slingsby remarked,” It felt like a chimpanzee was lifted off our rear.
The sailors on our staff are incredible, and it was extremely difficult for them to not get any events for a year.
” I think it was weighing on us a bit, even if we weren’t talking about it explicitly.”
