Alessandro Bastoni, the keeper for Inter Milan, was having a poor month even before he was the fall guy for Italy’s most recent World Cup disappointment.

Bastoni’s booing had now started to permeate Italy since his part in a subsequent sending-off, and the booers won’t likely stop after his right purple card in Tuesday’s playoff game against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Azzurri then lost a sentence battle to miss out on a third-straight World Cup.

As he arrived up in Milan on Wednesday morning, the 26-year-old Bastoni was motionless, dejected, and morose.

After his friends had already gotten into waiting cars, he was the last person to leave Malpensa Airport’s switch on his own.

Italy had already 1-0 in the playoffs last on Tuesday when Bastoni’s misplaced challenge fell just before halftime.

Amar Memic was rushing toward the goal, but Bastoni had dangerously slid in and brought the Bosnia forth from beyond.

Bastoni sat on the field with his head bowed, and a flat red was obvious.

After Bosnia’s later equalizer, Italy had to play the final 30 minutes of extra-time against 10 guys for the remainder of the match.

In a statement in an article in Italy’s top sports news Gazzetta dello Sport, Bastoni described the dark cards as” an error that single fuels the debate on Bastoni’s state of form and his emotional stability in times of peak pressure.”

There were calls in Italy even before the game for the Inter center up to be replaced after an incident occurred during their game against fierce rivals Juventus in February.

When Bastoni went down under a handle by Pierre Kalulu, leading to the Juventus keeper receiving a second golden cards, the player caused a lot of outcry.

Although the incident wasn’t a direct reddish card, VAR couldn’t intervene or overturn the decision because it clearly showed that Bastoni had evidently dived in an attempt to send his opponent down.

Bastoni afterwards apologized for his wild activities at Kalulu’s second yellow passport, which only heightened the rage. The person and his family were the victims of a flood of negativity and maltreatment on social press, though, and the damage was done.

Since then, he’s been dubbed harshly by opposition supporters in every venue, and he’s unlikely to receive a better reception in the coming months.
